My father, for some reason, believes that long hair would result in weight/blood loss and therefore deems it bad for my health. Is this in anyway true?

I don’t think so. I have long hair and am healthy.
In fact, for centuries the attraction between a male and female has been based on primitive external reactions to physical characteristics. Curvy hips and breasts, LONG HAIR, large eyes… all of these are such types of characteristics that made the cavemen googoo! :0)

The hair on your head is dead, the roots are alive, but the hair is not, your head and your body do not know how long your hair is.

Sure, but this problem only happens with males; females can grow hair as long as they want.
NO, long hair doesn’t affect your weight (except for the weight of the hair itself) and doesn’t cause blood loss.
Very long heavy hair has caused neck pain or headaches in some people, not most.
