What should I do about my weight loss plan?
I’m 18 years old and 5 feet 7/8 inches tall. I was taking phentermine the diet pill to lose weight before I started taking it I weighed about 160 lbs and now I weigh 153 lbs. I stopped taking it after about 6 days because I started feeling pressure/ heaviness to the left side of my heart/chest . When I was taking it I would only eat about 700-900 calories a day, Now that I’m off it I don’t know how much calories to eat to lose weight. Today I ate about 1100 calories and burn about 170 on the elliptical. I want to go back to take phetermine, but I’m scared something bad might happen to me. what should I do?

In order to lose weight, you do NOT need to take diet pills, eat rarely or only strictly healthy foods. Many people think that by eating less or really unappetizing foods, and taking diet pills will help them lose weight but in reality it will gradually do the opposite, and is extremely unhealthy for you.
Losing weight is quite simple, but takes time and a little will power to add exercise into your schedule if you haven’t already. There are several reasons why people gain weight. The most common reasons are because people over eat, especially on foods that are high in fat, and they do not exercise. All this combined will make you gain weight, but adjusting HOW you eat will make a big difference :)
Here are a few things you can do: Eat until you are satisfied. Do not eat until you feel you are about to explode! Eating until you are satisfied means eating smaller portions, but more frequently throughout the day and that’s okay!
Carry around a bag of simple fruits, vegetables, or nuts to snack on throughout the day. These are not high in fat or calories, and are healthy for your body.
Try to avoid eating before you go to sleep. When your body is not working out or moving, it takes much longer to burn off the calories you just consumed, and what does not get burned off can eventually turn into fat.
Add a simple workout routine throughout your week. Maybe walking or jogging 30 minutes to an hour a day and drink a lot of water :)
So, you can lose weight in a healthy way just by adding a few healthier food choices, while still eating the foods you love, (eat until you are satisfied) and exercising regularly.

Read the fine print… in conjunction with a balanced diet (or something that that, they will all say) so more in your mind then in your body. You do not want to eat to little or your body will go into self preservation mode & store everything you eat into fat.

Go to a dietitian. He/she will tell you what to eat and if you really need pills or not. Don’t stop exercising, and eat healthy. But most of all, go to a dietitian, (or diet doctor)
