OK so I am very recently pregnant (like 2 weeks) and I do like to drink my diet soda – I am only talking about ONE can a day…is that really bad for my baby? I do NOT drink coffee or tea, occassionally will have a glass of chocolate milk, but otherwise no large amounts of caffeine. Obviously I am concerned about the caffeine and the artificial sweeteners. I KNOW the best thing is to not drink it, but if I do have a can once a day is that really bad??

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I drank a 20 ounce diet pepsi today. Then I went on the internet and researched consuming aspartame while pregnant and now I’m totally freaking out. I should have done the research before drinking the soda. Some of the things I’ve read about aspartame consumption during pregnancy have me terrified! No rude answers please… I’m really scared.

It’s ridiculous that they only have diet sodas in the vending machines. I mean, I don’t drink soda very much anyway because water is better for you. But many people buy soda every day and it’s always diet or zero or something like that. the only non diet stuff is fruit juice and water. Diet soda is actually worse for you than regular soda because the sugar substitute can cause cancer and other diseases. So why do you think they provide all diet soda?

I fear that I may have become addicted! I’ve been trying to cut out fattening/sugary foods, so whenever I feel like I want fatty snack, I have diet coke/coffee instead. Also, whenever I am bored or procrastinating, I make myself a coffee/get a diet soda. I must drink so much of this stuff during the day, and I know it’s not good for you! Any ideas for weening myself off the caffeine?
